Here is some comments of the house from the guests:

“Read through the reviews, you’ll see that if you don’t book this when it’s open you’re going to miss an opportunity. We were going to stay in a Ryokan but this was so much better. You have the whole traditional Japanese home to yourself. Jinn provides enough things to do in and around Kyoto that can keep you busy whether you stay for a few days or couple weeks. The pictures don’t give you a true feeling of how the home feels when you’re actually there. Every morning I wake up now I will lay there with my eyes closed imaging the view looking out the glass doors to the garden. The sun gently nudging to wake up with birds beginning to wake and sing. I pick up my head and first see an older maniured pine and my eyes following the path past flowering bushes and end at the toro under a tree. When I look to my right I will see the beautiful bathtub and just beyond the green moss on the ground backed by a stone wall with other plants and trees. Simply put, the home is amazing and Jinn is absolutely the best host and should be given the title of Super Super Exceptional Host.”

“We had 2 amazing nights staying at Jinn’s house in Kyoto. We were drawn the to the traditional look and feel of the photos and it was even more beautiful when we arrived. The house is very spacious and it was certainly very indulgent for us (just the two of us) to have the whole place to ourselves! Jinn has a great attention to detail – we loved all the beautiful plates / crockery and the furnishings around the house. A highlight included looking through the window while having my morning tea and spotting a huge deer looking straight back at me! But most of all we really enjoyed meeting Jinn in person, who met us on arrival and was so nice and helpful, taking us through the house and explaining to us how to get around on the bus etc. He even took us to a flea market in a temple the day that we arrived that we wouldn’t have known about / found otherwise. Thank you again Jinn! We will be back!”

“Jinn is a wonderful host and his house could not be more beautiful. Staying here is a special experience our group felt lucky to have. We loved: biking around the city, the bath (!!!), relaxing in the garden, and discovering great ramen nearby. The busses are super easy, and if your active, many things are a quick jog or bike ride away. We didn’t feel hindered by being less centralized and enjoy the peaceful neighborhood. Jinn was so helpful with recommendations, arranging cabs and welcoming us to his home. Can’t recommend enough!”

“Where to begin?? Jinn and his house are awesome!! For anyone fond of Kyoto and Japanese culture, Jinn’s place will only bring you to a next level of superb experience which is rare to find elsewhere. We failed to book last year and this time we made it!! Everything, every moment and every breath we had during our stay at Jinn’s house had surpassed our expectation (which was set quite high at the first place). My husband wanted to join me writing his review too, i.e. Jinn, you are really really nice, your house is fantastic! We really hope to trip back again.(ps:大路边有家teppanyaki很不错喔,叫Kimassi,旁边就是一家中华料理,好像斜对面路口是家fresco ,但店家英语不咋的,所以点餐只能乱来了) —Samuel Jinn has pulled his heart as an artist and host into his house, and amazingly he is young, handsome and considerate. We feel completely home away from home!! Thank you Jinn san!! Love Kyoto more, can’t wait to plan our next trip.”

“We couldn’t possibly be more pleased with our experience at Jinn’s house. Traditional, spacious, well equipped with an amazing garden that is a wonder by it’s self. Jinn was an amazing host. Always ready to answer all our messages within minutes. Polite, well organised and punctual. We definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for an authentic Kyoto experience.”

“I cannot begin to say enough great things about my stay at Jinn’s house. It was the perfect place for my family’s visit to Kyoto, and I would come back to the city again just to stay there because I loved it so much. You won’t find a better host than Jinn anywhere. He is just simply a gracious and lovely person and really has a wonderful energy about him. He made everything so easy and comfortable for me and my family. No matter when I sent a message with questions, whether before our trip or after we arrived, his response was so quick. We always felt so comfortable knowing he was so readily available to answer questions. Where to start with the house? It’s so clean, comfortable, and beautiful. You truly feel like you are home when you stay there. There are so many nice little touches such as a pre-heater in the shower, bath scrubbers, etc. We also cooked each night that we stayed, and the kitchen has everything you need. Even though it was January, it was quite easy to keep the house warm and comfortable. Also if you are traveling with small children, the house is well-equipped for their needs. Jinn had a pack n play, bedding, and highchair all available for my 14 month old son to use. Everything was immaculate and clean. It is also such a plus to have a washer/dryer to use if needed. The location was perfect for us, and we quite enjoyed being a bit away from all the super high traffic areas. It is an easy walk to Ginkaku-ji and other areas. Jinn’s welcome book is super helpful also with bus/train directions to other locations. He also recommended the restaurant, Omen, which was excellent and a great dining experience. I’m sure it’s pretty apparent at this point, but I could just keep going on and on about how amazing Jinn’s house is! No matter what your needs or situation, you won’t be disappointed if you stay here!”

——————————————————————–
3 Reasons you might not want to Book Yagi Shirakawa Tei
——————————————————————–

1: 20 minutes to Downtown.
It is either you want to stay in the spacious house in peace with quiet neighborhood or small house that can be loud in downtown area. 20 mins to downtown is not that bad. the bus comes every 15-20 mins. 230 yen per ride.

2: Slope to the house is hard.
walking down to the street is easy but walking up to the house is breath taking I mean tough. so I recommend to take taxi the first day if you have many luggage.
But the view from the house is very nice and since it is remote from the city, its quiet and peaceful

3. If you dislike nature in the summer
The house is surrounded by nature
we live together on earth with animals (dear might show up) and bugs such natural creatures.
If you don’t like them, you should just book hotels.

F A Q
——–
Q How to get a key?
A I can come to the house and explain about the house and give you the keys at the spot 😉 I am working as Photographer and CEO of my company so I am working a lot and I often ask you when you are arriving to the house which is because I am making my schedule to welcome you 🙂

Q Can I leave the luggage?
A basically not. since this house is rent as a whole, if next guest comes you can’t get your luggage if they stay that night. Also, it is a bit far to get your luggages once you left to site seeing into the city so often guests leave their luggages in Kyoto station in the morning. 🙂

Q How convenient to Downtown?
A The Bus comes every 10-20 minutes to Downtown and takes about 20 minutes. Shijo Kawaramachi bus stop

Q What is closest bus stop?
A Kitashirakawa Bettocho or Kitashirakawa Shibusecho

Q How do we get to your house from Kyoto Station?
A I really recommend to take a Taxi from the Kyoto Station
it will be around (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)yen~ it takes about 30mins
There is MK TAXI on south of Kyoto station. They are so polite and cheap taxi with good manner so I recommend you to go south of Kyoto station for MK taxi station (ask if you don’t know where it is)

Q Can I use the whole house?
A Yes. You will have as much privacy as possible.

Q Can I cook in the Kitchen?
A Yes! there is enough equipment to cook and little selection of seasonings

Q Is the house yours or your parents?
A Yes it is mine! I bought the house 2015 and I reformed myself.
I would like to live here in future.

Q Is the house safe?
A it is quite expensive area to own the house in kyoto. Everyone around is nice.

Q What is the best way to get to your house?
A If you are coming from Kansai airport
I recommend to take MK SHUTTLE BUS (please search on Internet)
The shuttle bus will take you to my house directly door to door service. It is cheaper than Train + taxi and it goes directly to my house. It is 4200yen per person and they can carry the luggage as well. It takes about 2:45-3 hours. I recommend to reserve one month before for this service.

Q is it ok if we arrive late ?
A if you would like to check in late
I might be able to welcome you but it depends on my schedule.. It takes 30 mins to explain about the house so It will get late
